UK V AUSTRALIA..... JULY 2008!


Well we are all counting down, to what could be the toughest match for our UK team...lets see what their up against!

AUSTRALIA  -  TEAM PROFILES

Suzette ThomasSUZETTE THOMAS, aged 24 and has played polocrosse for 17 years with Foothills and South Midlands polocrosse clubs.  Suzette was a member of the winning 2007 World Cup team and from that event was named best lady player and best horse rider combination. 

In late 2007 Suzette was appointed the Junior Ambassador for Polocrosse, part of Suzettes brief is to coach and mentor juniors across Australia.

Commencing at junior level Suzette has represented Western Australia at National Championships from 1996 to 2006.  In 2004 Suz captained the winning Intermediate ladies team at Albury. 

Suzette married Ben Thomas in March in Mauritius with family and close friends present.  Suz works as a Human Resources officer for Internet Engineering.

Kylie Dowling

KYLIE DOWLING, aged 34 has played polocrosse for 13 years for Capel, Kojonup and Foothills polocrosse clubs.  Kylie was a member of the winning 2007 World Cup team.  Kylie was a relative later comer to polocrosse but has made an impact since commencing by representing Western Australia in 1994 and every Nationals since.

Kylie has played in two winning Ladies national teams, 2002 in Darwin and again in 2004 in Albury.  In 2004 at Albury Nationals Kylie was awarded best number 1, best lady player, best Australian Stock Horse and overall  Supreme Champion Horse and Rider. She also won Best No 1 in the senior mixed at Camden 06

Kylie works at the Narrogin Agriculture College teaching Equine studies part time and trains racehorses full time. Kylie is married to Royce and they have two children, Joslyn and Wilson. 

Jodi TiverJODI TIVER, aged 25 and has played polocrosse for 16 years for Foothills, Kojonup and Westbury polocrosse clubs.  This is Jodi’s first international polocrosse series. 

Jodi has represented Western Australia at Nationals from 1998 to date.  Jodi was voted best female player at Naracoorte in 2000 in the Intermediate mixed competition.  In 2002 Darwin Nationals Jodi also picked up the best number 1 in the Intermediate Ladies.  Jodi has also represented WA as a junior in New Zealand and winning best number 1.  Jodi has played in two winning Intermediate Ladies Nationals at Darwin and Albury.

Jodi works in Planning for a local council. Jodi married Adrian in November 2007.

Sandra Western

 

SANDRA WESTON, aged 29 and has played polocrosse for 20 years for the Tumut polocrosse club. 

Sandra has represented New South Wales at four Nationals in 1998, 2000, 2004 and 2006.  At the Camden Nationals in 2006 Sandra won best number 3 and best lady player for the tournament. 
Sandra is married to Will and they have a baby boy, Ryan.

 

Troy HenryTROY HENRY, aged 36 and has played polocrosse for XX years for the Noonamah, Rosedale and Holbrook polocrosse clubs.  Troy

Troy has represented New South Wales in Men’s competition at all Nationals from 1994 to 2006.  Troy was a member of the winning 2007 World Cup team and the 2003 winning World Cup team.  Troy represented Australia in 2001 and 2005 against New Zealand then again in 2004 against Ireland.

Troy share farms, is married to Rebecca and they have two children.

Hayden Turnball

 

 

HAYDEN TURNBULL, is 26 years old and has played polocrosse for 12 years for the Qurindi polocrosse club.  Hayden was also a member of the winning 2007 World Cup team.

Hayden has represented New South Wales at Camden nationals in 2006.

 

Robert SibleyROBERT SIBLEY, is 25 years old and has been playing polocrosse for 15 years for the Lake George and Foothills polocrosse clubs. 

Robert has represented New South Wales at four nationals, 1998, 2002, 2002 and 2006.

Robert has recently moved to Western Australia with his wife Jacinta who hails from WA.  Robert is working as a farm manager at Devereaux Holdings. 


Will Western

WILL WESTON, is 29 years old and has been playing polocrosse for 20 years for the Jugiong polocrosse club. 

Will has represented New South Wales at nationals since 1994 as a junior, 1998, 2000, 2006.  Will has also traveled to the USA as a junior. 

Will is married to Sandra and they have a baby boy, Ryan.

Colin Parkinson

COLIN PARKINSON, is 39 years of age and is a State accredited umpire.  Colin has played polocrosse for 19 years for the Muswellbrook polocrosse club.  Colin is the Hunter Valley Zone Umpire.  Colin has played, coached and umpired at Zone and State level.  Colin has represented New South Wales at Walkaway in 1994 and Naracoorte in 2000 and coached junior teams in 2004 at Albury and 2006 at Camden.

Ross Shepherd



ROSS SHEPHERD
, is 56 years old and has played polocrosse for 41 years for the Warwick Polocrosse club. Ross represented Australia against New Zealand in 1976,1977,in a Quadrangular Test Series with Zimbabwe,NZ,and New Guinea in 1983 and against Zimbabwe in 1985. He played in the Bicentennial Test against The Rest of the World in 1988.  Ross has taken the Australians to victory in both World Cups in 2003 and 2007.

Ross is a farmer and is married to Kay.

Sandy MctaggartSANDY MCTAGGART, is 63 years old and has played polocrosse for 45 years for the mighty Murchison, Kojonup, Perth and Kennedy Ranges polocrosse clubs.

Sandy has represented Western Australia as State Team Manager at Naracoorte in 2000, Darwin in 2002, Albury in 2004 and Camden in 2006.  Sandy also managed a junior mixed team at the 1996 at Werribee and the Open Mixed in 1998 at Warwick.  Sandy’s children; TicTac played in the junior mixed team at Werribee and Boots in the intermediate mixed at Warwick.  Sandy has recently been installed as the State President of  the Polocrosse Association of Western Australia.

In 1998 Sandy and Carol hosted the visiting UK team.

Sandy is a pastoralist in the Murchison region and is married to Carol and they have three children.
