Minutes of Eastern Region AGM - Sat 29th March 2008

New Eastern Region Committee elected as follows:
Chairman – Lorraine Foley (lorraine.foley2@ntlworld.com - 07841515899)
Secretary – Mandy Humphrey (system_one_2000@yahoo.co.uk)
Treasurer – Jackie Nickless (JackieNickless@blueyonder.co.uk)
Regional Umpire and Regional Selector continue to be shared with Southern Region in the absence of suitable candidates from East (please send any communication relating to these roles to lorraine.foley2@ntlworld.com). Other posts to be filled as and when required.

2007 Review

• Eastern Region Team Western Phoenix hosted one of the best “National Championships” ever at Ashfields
• Eastern Region hosted a First Aid for Equestrians course – 8 Eastern Region members attended
• Issued two newsletters to Eastern Region Membership.
• Winter Indoor training/chukkas not progressed due to difficulty finding a suitable arena available to hire.

2008 Plans

• Eastern Region Team Liscombe Park (Wing, Bedfordshire) to host 2008 National Championships.
• Liscombe Park Tournament & Western Phoenix Tournaments (including Australia Test Match) dates fixed – see Tournament Schedule
• Western Phoenix (WP) Wednesday Evening Training re-starts at Ashfields May 2008. Please call WP for other dates.

Congratulations to Lorraine for securing the 2008 ER Chairman role! Please give Lorraine your support - am sure she’ll do a great job!

Notice of Eastern Region AGM - Sat 29th March 2008 - 7pm
How are we all doing? Looking forwards to the 2008 season? Let’s hope the weather is a bit kinder to us this year!! Congratulations to Vero for putting in the winning bid to host the 2008 Nationals back at Liscombe Park, plus club tournaments from Liscombe and Western Phoenix. 

Now for the Regional AGM (though slightly less than Annual). There’s approx £3,000 in the Eastern Region Bank Account and the Regional Exec Committee are the ones who decide how to spend that for the development of the region! Members of all Eastern Region clubs are urged to attend, as are members living in the ER but playing for other clubs:
The main purpose of the meeting to vote in the new Eastern Region Committee (note I will not be standing again for 2008 season). The alternative is to merge with another Region – which we also need to discuss.

Eastern Region Report January 2008

• We're trying to arrange taster sessions at Norton Heath nr Chelmsford. Dates TBC. 5 Sessions to be funded by the Eastern Region.
• Eastern Region AGM -
• Ashfields to put in Bid for Nationals 2008.
• Tournaments announced- Liscombe (14/15th June) & Western Phoenix (incl. Test match 19/20th July) .
• Investigating BBC lead.
• World Cup 2011 - Suggestion that we try to book Suffolk Showground due to excellent drainage & playing surface.
